During 2013-2014, Northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska have become a major area for crude oil transportation. Hill City, Kansas is a magnet for at least four different crude oil companies whose trucks transport their cargo to the dump station east of town.

For whatever reasons, I have always had a liking for the look or design of trucks. Having a bit of trucking experience, I wanted to paint one of contemporary times in northwest Kansas. However, I felt no need to paint a truck rendering but one placed in an extraordinary Great Plains environment. And returning to the night sky recharges my batteries and how!
