Third in a series of Star Trek: The Original Series spaceship paintings
When Star Trek appeared in 1966, like so many other Boomers, I was smitten with the USS Enterprise. The late Walt or Matt Jeffries' design, is a major icon of television, space, science fiction, modeling and even art.
Unsure what to depict from space, I finally lifted this version from an older series of my space paintings from 1974. The background employs a loose Crab Nebula and a greenish planet.
When finished, Kirk's final words in Star Trek: The Motion Picture made me smile. Uhura. "Heading, sir?" And with a slight pause,"out there...thataway!"
