The Blue Goose was Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad's only entry in the popular streamlining of steam engines. Built in 1937 by Baldwin, the Blue Goose was the first of six in the 3460 Class. Dressed in two shades of blue and trimmed in stainless steel and chrome the Blue Goose, possibly earlier named Blue Bird, was a magnificent effort in streamline decoration.
The Blue Goose headed up the Los Angeles bound Chief from Chicago to LaJunta, Colorado. She stayed in Santa Fe service until retirement c.1956.
