The painting is loosely based on Robert Norris' FATE Magazine article entitled “The Curse of the Little Bastard”.  Actor James Dean died in his brand new 1955 Porsche Spyder.  Legendary car designer George Barris purchased the wreck and began parting out the car.  Soon, strange accidents and deaths followed.  Barris, being a bit spooked, stored the Porsche.

At the urging of the California Highway Patrol, Barris restored the car and it traveled countrywide as a safety exhibit.  In 1960, the Spyder was crated and being trucked from Florida to California.  Somewhere in between, the car mysteriously disappeared and has not been seen since.  The Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois is offering a million dollar reward for the return of the original Little Bastard!
