the Bulldog Cafe, Los Angeles in 1940

Built in 1927 the Bulldog Cafe was a another zany Los Angeles creation. The Bulldog was located at 1153 West Washington Boulevard and later featured as a one page image in the November 1934 issue of National Geographic. A reproduction of the Bulldog Cafe is in the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

The painting is recreating the fun side of Los Angeles c.1940. I thought a 1939 Ford convertible with kids out for an evening would garner the added touch to days long gone.
