In 2007 I was talking with a friend in WaKeeney, Kansas how the shale outcropping north of their town would lend itself to an attractive harvest painting. Sometime later, another person suggested Baby Boomer era harvests. The idea fermented over a couple of years and the 1950s harvest paintings began to take wing.

Knowing I had any number of name combines and trucks to use, I simply picked John Deere 55s and a '55 Chevrolet for this painting of a fall milo harvest with the trees just starting to turn color.
