With the help of my good friend Chris White from Delaware, I was able to develop two paintings of Russian railroads which went through several of the Volga German colonies on the Bergseite, or hilly side, of the Volga River.
We settled on a small freight headed up by a 2-8-0 steam engine. The train is northbound on its way to Saratov.
