During the early 1990s, the Plainville Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad saw a resurgence of activity. Since that time, I have kept several hundred slides and photographs of branch activity west of Plainville to Colby, Kansas.

Even though less than documentary, the photos I took of UPs GE U23B diesel engine #247 served to make a rather nice painting composition.

The flood of 1993 ended the Union Pacific's Plainville Branch.
